Campus Policy and Procedures

Attendance

It is important to your student’s academic success that they attend school every day. Official school attendance is taken each day at 9:30 AM. Your child must be present at 9:30 AM in order to be counted present for the day. In the event your student has to go to the doctor or dentist during school time, he/she may be counted present for the day, provided he/she returns to school the same day with a signed note from the doctor/dentist. Your student must also make up any missed work.

Tardies

School begins promptly at 8:00 AM.  Students who arrive after 8:00 AM are considered tardy and must report to the office for a tardy slip before going to class. The adult who brings the student to school must accompany him/her to the office and sign the student in before he/she proceeds to class. Please make every effort to get your student to school on time.  All students take a core content course during the first class of the day (i.e. reading, math, science, literacy).  It is critical for your student's success that he/she is present in class.

Dismissal

The scheduled dismissal time for Atherton Elementary is 3:00 for PreK - 1st grades and 4:00 for 2nd - 5th grades. If your student’s method of transportation needs to be changed, please send a note to your student’s teacher. If you forget to send a note, please call the office by 2:30 PM. Without a written note or oral communication by the front office no changes will be made to the student’s method of transportation.

**No students will be allowed to check out after 2:30 PM.  This cutoff time is necessary to manage traffic as we prepare for the official dismissal process.

Building Security
